The presented text informs the reader about the findings of a study conducted on classroom observation records, acquired by students in the first year of their follow-up master's studies at the Palacký University's Faculty of Education in Olomouc during obligatory student practicum in the academic year 2022/23. By employing predominantly qualitative methods, focusing particularly on content analysis of records, we pinpoint areas of weakness in teacher training. The reoccurring problematic areas found in the class attendance records became far more a testament to the students' degree of preparedness for practice than to the teachers’ performances. Students' issues with professional terminology are identified, particularly their lack of knowledge and poor ability to apply it. Inaccuracies in educational goals are also shown, as is a completely insufficient linkage of educational content with key competences, all in context of other data acquired. The article proposes measures that would be required to ameliorate the state represented by the data. Based on the data acquired, the output is a proposal for changing the classroom observation record used by students during these inspections and other measures aimed at improving the state of pedagogical practices. The most significant contribution of this work is the design of the classroom observation record, which is intended to be explicit, simple, structured, and practical. This, in conjunction with the proposed measures, allows for the acquisition of additional data that can be utilized to improve the quality of social science teacher training.
