The study deals with the transformation of the school subject Civics over the hundred years of its existence. During this time, there was a fundamental transformation of educational goals, but above all, a transformation of the student himself. Today, the pupil or student is in captivity of various strategies of biopower. These strategies made the current student a passive citizen, often looking only at his individuality. The turning point for renewed interest in personality and social education is the student's current existential distress, which must be used through the subject of citizenship education (or the basics of social sciences, etc.) in order to re-educate the character of a citizen.
