The aim of the article is to anchor the development of pupils' potential as an integral part of fulfilling the principles of the constructivist conception of the educational process. We also aim to define the professional competencies of the primary teacher associated with the specifics of learner-centered education and to describe the conditions that are necessary to create for the implementation of approaches that develop pupils' potential in accordance with the declared professional needs of teachers.
