This contribution is focused on what role new media play in acquiring information among students in the second year of grammar schools and non-grammar school types of high schools. A part is devoted to how media literacy is viewed by different authors and how it is related to media education. The consumption of news by young people is also a topic, for example what is media literacy, or whether young people are able to distinguish between information and misinformation. The information and research contained in the post are part of my diploma thesis, which I defended this June at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University.
