The study presents the results of qualitative content analysis of contemporary Austrian History textbooks for upper secondary schools (covering 20th century). In the introduction the main criteria for analysis and evaluation are defined and the analysis results with examples of women emancipation history implementation are presented. The research results show that there are many chapters dedicated to this topic in the textbooks, covering the history of development of women emancipation aspirations in the 19th and 20th centuries, women involvement in both world wars, different aspects of everyday life and changes of women portrayal in advertisements. It is worth mentioning that the emphasis is on updating of historical topics and activization methods, educational projects and multiple use of primary sources. The form of gender presentation in foreign textbooks may serve as an inspiration for Czech textbooks authors.
