The study presents the results of the research implemented in 2015. The aim of this research was to determine the qualitative level of analysis and interpretation of iconographic source (historical caricature) in pre-service teaching for future social science teachers at lower secondary level. The research methods of eye-tracking and audio recordings of students' responses to specific questions were used. In recent years, Central Europe has witnessed an increase in electoral support for far-right political parties. The European economic crisis, the migratory crisis or the Brexit in the UK are the main causes of the increasing negative moods of the European Union citizens. In the research study we decided to focus on the analysis of opinions of pupils and their teachers at primary and secondary schools on European citizenship and European identity in selected schools in the Slovak republic. The work is focused in psychological aspects of teacher training for history teaching, where also pupils with mental disabilities are attended the class. It considers the starting approaches of the theories of goals and constructivicism developed by Jaean Piaget and Lev Vygotskij. Individual parts of the training preparation and class study contents are listed and characterized further.
