CIVILIA: a professional review for subject-specific didactics of social sciences is a professional peer-reviewed journal focused on the issues of subject-specific didactics of social sciences and humanities participating in the content of school civic education in its broader socio-cultural context. It is usually published twice a year primarily in Czech, although contributions in English and German may also be published. The aim of the journal is to contribute to the understanding and development of subject-specific didactics of social sciences, school civic education and, in their context, to solving problems of practice and educational policy.
The journal publishes only original works that have not yet been published anywhere and that are not submitted for publication in another journal, proceedings or monograph.

Guidelines for editing manuscripts for the journal CIVILIA
CIVILIA: a professional journal for social science didactics applies formal requirements according to the 7th edition of the APA citation standard to submitted manuscripts. Detailed instructions for authors can be found on the website of the Department of Social Sciences, Faculty of Arts, University of Olomouc, in the science and research section - CIVILIA Magazine https://www.pdf.upol.cz/files/users/326/Pokyny_pro_autory_casopisu_CIVILIA.pdf. Here we present selected instructions for more frequently occurring phenomena, especially referencing used sources, editing images and tables, using italics, writing mathematical and statistical expressions, which we have in some cases adjusted so that they are, if possible, in accordance with the spelling and typographical usage in Czech. We recommend that authors familiarize themselves with the full text of the manual (American Psychological Association, 2020) https://apastyle.apa.org/blog.
Text organization
The structure of the article should adhere to the APA Style Journal Article Reporting Standards (see https://apastyle.apa.org/jars/) as much as possible, especially when describing the methodology of empirical texts. However, some specific text elements may deviate from the APA standard.
Title, abstract and keywords
In an article written in Czech or Slovak, include the Czech title as well as its English translation. The abstract (800–1500 characters including spaces) is a brief summary of the content of the paper. It introduces the problem under discussion, the structure of the paper and the main conclusions. In the case of empirical studies, the abstract also contains a description of the researched set, the methodology(ies) used and the main research findings. Keywords are ordered according to their importance in relation to the topic of the study. The English version is listed as “Keywords” (without spaces) and corresponds to the order of keywords in Czech.
