The Role of Teaching Methods in Financial Education

The article reacts on the situation in financial education and presents current information on the education system in the Czech Republic and the way how the children are acquainted with the financial education. Nowadays, the financial education is compulsory component of the primary school education (ISCED 1, 2). Moreover, it defines the teaching method framework for teachers of financial literacy. The text also introduces the design and the results of the qualitative research focused on the identification of the teaching methods that are used in the financial literacy education and it evaluates the effectivity of the methods in the educational process. The findings and the conclusions of the article will come out from two research methods. The first part includes the semi-structured interview with the teachers of the chosen primary school, who teach the financial literacy. In the second part, the experiment - a teaching of the chosen financial education topic was used as a research tool. The outputs will identify the teaching methods used in the financial education process in the primary schools. Next output evaluates the efficiency of the particular teaching methods based on the realized experiment and the interviews. The presented conclusions of the research should contribute to the support of statement that appropriately chosen teaching methods of financial education in primary schools can contribute to proper financial behaviour of the individuals in the society.
